The Sabi Sand Trilogy
Three lodges, one legendary reserve. Ten nights across Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge, Simbambili Game Lodge and the family-run Notten's Bush Camp — where the whole camp can be booked out for a private finale.
Every journey is a starting point — swap lodges, extend nights, add destinations.
Your journey, day by day
Arrival at Earth Lodge
ArrivalFly into Skukuza or Hoedspruit and transfer to Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge, an architectural masterpiece carved into the banks of the Msuthlu River. Settle into your subterranean suite, then head out on your first afternoon game drive across the Sabi Sand's leopard-rich woodlands.
Sabi Sand in full swing
Rise before dawn for a morning drive in pursuit of the Big Five, then breakfast overlooking the Msuthlu riverbed. Afternoons are yours — plunge pool, award-winning spa, or a siesta with elephants ambling past your glass walls — before a night drive with spotlights.
Earth Lodge day of leisure
A second full day to play at Earth Lodge. Take a guided bush walk with a tracker, learn tracking skills at the lodge's Tracker Academy, or simply watch the waterhole from your private deck. Sunset drinks at the boma and a candlelit dinner follow.
Earth Lodge to Simbambili
One final morning drive before brunch, then transfer north across the reserve to Simbambili Game Lodge on the Manyeleti River. Afternoon tea and a late-afternoon drive along the riverbeds — prime leopard territory.
Riverbed game viewing
Simbambili's suites gaze straight onto the seasonal riverbed, where elephants and buffalo come to drink. Spend the day on two game drives, with the afternoon off for your private plunge pool and sala daybed.
Photography day in Sabi Sand
A relaxed day of wildlife photography from the open vehicle — the Sabi Sand's abundant leopard and lion make it Africa's most productive safari arena. Optional guided bush walk in the afternoon before a riverside sundowner.
Simbambili to Notten's Bush Camp
Morning drive at Simbambili, then transfer to family-run Notten's Bush Camp — off-grid, solar-powered and gloriously old-school. Settle into your thatched suite, then join the evening drive across the plain in front of camp.
The classic safari rhythm
Wake to coffee and rusks, out before sunrise on a game drive, back for a long brunch. Afternoons drift by on your private deck overlooking the watering hole — read, nap, watch the wildlife parade — before the evening drive and dinner by lamplight.
Bush walks & boma fire
Swap the vehicle for the ground with a guided bush walk, learning to read tracks and sign. Return to camp for lunch, then a lazy afternoon before the final evening drive and a celebratory boma dinner under the stars.
Final full day in the bush
One last full day of game viewing — the Sabi Sand's Big Five rarely disappoint. Spend the afternoon by the pool, on your deck, or booking out the camp's family spaces for a private final feast. A night drive ends the day.
Farewell & departure
DepartureA final sunrise game drive at Notten's, breakfast on the deck, then transfer to Skukuza for your onward flight — heads full of leopard, lion and starlight. The Trilogy, complete.
